January 2012's Ten Days of Fasting And Praying
From January 6, 2012 through January 15, 2012, we will be fasting and praying. We will have church services at 8:00 PM each night of the Fast. The theme of this Fast is "Sound Doctrine".
Below you can watch each sermon from during the course of this Fast.
Message From Pastor Howard W. Smith, Sr.
May God Bless You Church,
And a good morning to each of you. “To every thing there is a season and a time there to every purpose under the heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
As we start out on this “Fast”, it is important to realize, as always, that this is not the time for normal activities, it is a “Solemn” time. We are living in the last days and are these days ever so evil.
We ask that you put a cap on your laughter; messing around; joking; and let’s me real in our hearts doing this “FAST”, that God may pour out His Holy Spirit upon us all; which will make us to be “ONE”. Amen??? Amen!!!
Our aim during this “Fast” is to bring us all up to another level in Christ and that is with a deeper knowledge of who Jesus Christ is and our place in the “Will” of God.
I will need your prayers and attention; your dedication and commitment. Obedience, your Love, your Reverence and your Respect: first to God, then to Leadership and then to one another. Amen??? Amen!!!
Deacon Paul has asked that we all be in our seats each service 10 minutes before the hour the service begins. Let us govern our time wisely so that this can be done. Amen??? Amen!!!
To grow we must be cleansed of all, not some, but all impurities of the soul and spirit; and I am speaking of the mind. Self must be put down and all must die daily that Christ might live. Amen??? Amen!!!

Day 1: Sound Doctrine
May God Bless You Dear Ones,
We are to blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast and then call a solemn assembly; we are to gather the people and sanctify the congregation. (Joel 2:15&16)
Church in order to get close to God, we must first be purified. In order to get into God’s Kingdom we must do things God’s way. Amen??? Amen!!!
Tonight’s message dealt with that which is sound. in order for us to be clean, we need a doctrine that is sound. One that is solid, firm, unyielding, tight, but right and not weak as water. So it is Sound Doctrine, the teaching of Jesus Christ, brought to us by the Holy Spirit of God. Flesh off the fire of God, steaming and ready to melt down any and everything that is not of God; that we might be purified and meet for the Master’s use. Amen??? Amen!!!
Church we cannot go through this life with a twisted face and a messed up attitude. Mad about nothing and refusing to be happy in Jesus. It is time to clean up and be prepared for the out pouring of the Holy Ghost. Amen??? Amen!!!
Tonight we began in Joel, the 2nd chapter and the 15 and 16th verses. Speaking on the things that is needful in order to be prepared for the coming of the Lord.
Church the season of fasting and praying is not the time for a husband/wife relationship. Now turn with me please over to the 3rd chapter of Ecclesiastes, beginning right there at the very first verse, where it tell us that to every thing there is a season and a time there to every purpose.
God has a purpose when we fast. It is to bring us all into the oneness of mind that we might be blessed all at the same time. And we cannot be one if some of us are enjoying our spouses while others who have not a spouse..... is suffering. Oneness Church, we all must be one.
You see........seasons change.........they come in and then they go out. The Fast is only for 10 days and you mean to tell me that you cannot lay aside your desires during the fast to be one with the others. Something is wrong with you spirit!!!
Listen, the Lord says that there is a time to embrace and there is a time to refrain from embracing. It is in there, right there in the 5th verse.....go ahead and read it. The fast is not about you and your wants but it is about oneness in God who is over us all and should be in us all, that He might bless us all in the end. Amen??? Amen!!!
Now if you still care to doubt this sound doctrine...(for there are some of you who do) then come with me over to the 7th, chapter of I Corinthians and read for me please what God says there in the 5th verse. “Defraud (meaning hold back from another what is rightfully theirs) ye not one another”.....watch this now........are you ready....” except it be with consent for a time” ...and you should consent so that you can be one with everyone else........don’t be selfish now, but loving, it is only for ten days..........listen......”that you may give yourselves” to what???? “fasting and prayer” which is what we are in right now, for ten days..............fasting................and praying......Oh yes this is sound. No holes in it at all. Now if you be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land, but if you refuse and rebel against this, God says that you shall be devoured with the sword (which is the Word of God) and guess who said it. “the mouth of the Lord”. Sound Doctrine!!!!
The Apostle Paul gave Titus some specific instructions and that was for him to speak that which become sound doctrine; the reason being Church is that there a many out there and even up in the Church with a lot of mess in them and unless the teachings is sound, they will find a way around it and a make an excuse not to do it. But if it is sound..........you get the point??? Good , now don’t forget it. Amen??? Amen!!!
And we ended the message right there in Titus 2:1-3. You cannot teach good things with a gospel that is sound........Amen??? Amen!!!

Day 2: God Is Real

As we enter our second day of the Fast, and feeding off of the Songs and Testimonies, God gives the Message that is to be delivered: and that He did.
We centered on the Realization of God, for He is Real.......God is Real, Church,.......He is as real to you and you are to Him. Now you can’t beat that with a stick. We all love to be treated as we treat. We do good and we expect or hope for the same in return.. It does not always happen like that, but we wish, hope, and even look for it. And you know, it is only found in God, not man, not woman, not boy or girl, but God, because He, Church.................. is Real. Amen??? Amen!!!
They say that Coca-Cola is the real thing, but it is mixed with water!!! You get the point, as Deacon Okie says.......I pray that you do!!
Dear Ones, It is a time of fasting and praying and we are asking each of you at this time during the fast, to remember a long time and dear friend of mine...Nathaniel Byrd........who has to go in to the hospital for surgery next week. Pray that God will be with the doctors as they attempt to remove all of what is found and that there will be no mistakes made by them (the doctors) during the process. Amen??? Amen!!!

Day 3: Sound Doctrine

As the Apostle Paul said, “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His, And, Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (II Timothy 2:19)
To get into God’s Kingdom, you must do God’s will. There is no other way into the Kingdom of Heaven, but the way of the cross; it is what leads home. The way of the cross Church, the way of the Cross. Amen??? Amen!!!
Now as we continue in the Word with Sound Doctrine, which is the teachings of the ways of God, that will enable you to be as God is. This watered down doctrine that is surviving the airways today is not going to work. The Lord did say that this generation wiser and sure enough it is. This is why we must, I say we must walk the walk and talk the talk of Christ, if not this generation today will spot your weakness and point it out to you; and will use it against you. Don’t claim to be a member of God’s church and let them see you out there doing the things that they do, they will call you out and tell on you. Amen??? Amen!!!
It is important for the Leadership of today, to stick to the Book and that is the Holy Bible, for in it there is eternal life. The Book is right Church, because Holy men of God, speak as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Isn’t that wonderful........or yes how sweet it is to be a part of what is right. Sound Doctrine, Church, sound Doctrine. Amen??? Amen!!!
God spoke to the aged men, the aged women and their duties. As the Sunday School lesson spoke of today, it the practical points, how that along with leadership comes accountability and responsibility. The souls of men and women are in our hands and we must be as God is, in order to convince them of this holy plan of God. Amen??? Amen!!!
Tomorrow is Work meeting and I am sure that God will speak to us concerning works. For faith without works is dead.

Day 4: Faith Without Works Is Dead

How Great Is Our God????
Tonight we dealt with faith, works and faith without works, how that “it” is dead.
Now God, in the beginning had faith in knowing that when He spoke, His Word was respond. Not in a different way but as sent “it” out, so did the Word. He said let there be light, and guess what Church...............there was light. Confidence which is what we need in pleasing God. For he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder to them that seek Him. Amen??? Amen!!!
We had spoken to the Church on last Monday about work, paying your offering; half day; sacrificial. Telling them how that they would make more money during sacrificial week then they normally do. Now just believe God, don’t doubt Him, just believe His ministers and be blessed.
At least three members have spoken of more hours (which meant more money), others spoke of more money on their checks even though they were on salary. One had asked, “Pastor how did you know that it would be”. My response was, “I am to just speak what God gives me to speak”. Now you know this is true and it is up to the hearers of the Word to just believe. That’s it Church, just believe.
Faith in what God has said is to be and when He blesses you, (as the Elder Michaux says) don’t cheat. Because you can’t beat God giving and you surely can’t beat Him hold back either. Amen??? Amen!!!
Our Founder said and taught, that you don’t pay your burial fund for yourself, but for your brother, and your brother is paying it for you. Do you get the point??? We don’t do for ourselves but do for others and then trust God to open unto you the windows of heaven and let the blessings of God flow upon you.
I was thinking of how that some are still no matter how many raises they have received throughout the years, are still putting two dollars on the table for their offering. Two dollars Church, which explains why they are always crying for help. How are we doing Church???
People are afraid to trust God; if He says for you to do it, as my daughter says............”do it”. That’s it, just do it; don’t wonder at it, just do it; don’t fuss about it, just do it. Amen??? Amen!!!
WE as that you will please remember William Roseboro, Jr in your prayers; he is in the Spotsylvania Hospital with a very large lymphoma in the stomach area, which has limited his strength and his ability to breathe. There is one thing that I have learned of God is that He is without a doubt........Almighty. And can do anything but fail. Can I get a witness???

Day 5: Be Not Conformed, But Be Ye Transformed

Blow the trumpet in Zion and this we must do, that the age men be sober, the aged women likewise, young men zealous of good works. What a plan Church, What a plan!!!
Tonight we brought forth the message from the 12th Chapter of Romans, where Paul spoke of being like Christ and not like the world. Amen??? Amen!!!
It is the ten day of fasting and praying; it is the time for each of us to examine ourselves and see where we stand. And as we hear the Word, apply it to our lives that we may be acceptable unto God which is our reasonable way of service to God who is holy and knows all things. You cannot hide when it comes to God; He sees right on through you and know that you are full of it and I am not talking about the Holy Ghost either.
People wonder why Jesus Christ came.......Church He came to save us from sin and shame. If there were no sin, there would have been no need for God to have given Him that we might be saved. But He did because Adam and Eve, our fore parents sinned and therefore sin fell upon us all. Do you get the point??? I pray that you do. Now repeat and be baptize that your life may be saved. And after being saved, come to Jesus that He may cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Amen??? Amen???
Let us not be conformed to this world, Church, but be transformed, as Paul says, but the renewing of your mind, that you prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of ..........who??? of God.
We did get by the Hospital today to see Billy Roseboro, Jr. Please keep him in prayer as the doctors do what only they can do and what they cannot do, we ask God to take care of the rest. Amen??? Amen!!!
Also, Nathaniel Byrd came through surgery okay today and is back at home rest. We thank you for lifting his name up in prayer. Believe it or not, prayer changes things. Can I get a witness???? Thank you!!!

Day 6: The Constitution- Colossians 3

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, the Lord knoweth them that are His. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart for iniquity. (2 Timothy 2:19)
It is important Dear Ones to know and understand that every business, church, organization must or should have a Constitution and God did give unto us, by our Founder, Elder Lightfoot Solomon Michaux, the 3rd Chapter of Colossians as the Constitution for us to be governed by. Telling us that if we are to obey every thing that is written in this chapter, we cannot miss out of the Kingdom of Heaven.
You Church when you allow the Word to come in, it will move out.........do you hear me???? It will move out all of the hatred, malice, backbiting, anger, wrath, fornication, (sex outside of marriage), uncleanness and anything else that is against sound doctrine. AMen??? AMen!!!
Tomorrow night is petition night. We do not have testimony, but we anoint those who desire to be anointed and we go down in prayer for the time allotted until the order of service be changed.
We are to bring in our petition to God, place them in an envelope, seal it with the cross of Christ and then lay them at the feet of Jesus.
Now please be thoughtful of your brother and sister..........asking God for the out pouring of His Holy Ghost to be upon you.........it is the ultimate gift that does enable each of us to be as God is..............HOLY!!! Amen??? Amen!!!
Now don’t ask God for a million dollars and then you don’t have wits to deal with it. That is asking amiss which is commanded by Him for us not to do so.
For those of you who are out of town or even out of the Country in some other land, around the world, just email it to us and we will print it out for you and put it in with all of the others.
Before I end tonight, please remember Brother Ashton Bell and his wife Sister Tawanda Bell that God might save them from the sifting of Satan; for his desire is to sift them as wheat, but if we pray for them as Jesus spoke and prayed for Peter, every things with them will be alright. Amen??? Amen!!!

Day 7: Your Petitions; Do You Believe?

As we come to the ending, not the end, but the ending of the ten days of Fast, we want to impress upon you how important it is to press on. As one stated, “I feel it in my body”. yes, and how good shall it be to the soul. As the Lord said in Joel 2:28, And it shall come to pass afterwards, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh.......Amen ...........Church, that is the reward for all of the suffering.............so we thank God and press towards that mark. Amen??? Amen!!!
Tonight God wanted to encourage us to just believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and it would be done for us, in whatsoever we ask. Now that is something..........if you know that it is according to His will..............go ahead and ask God for it; but don’t trying to get it without including “in the name of Jesus”. Oh no, He must be included, because He is seated right there on the right of hand, speaking to God for you and you are going to leave Him out???? Oh no please don’t do that!!!1
We want to thank you for your petitions, they have been sealed with the anointing of the oil and then place at the feet of Jesus. All that is needed for you to do now is start thanking Him for responding to your cry. Amen Church???? Amen!!!
Just would like to thank all of you for your prayers for Billy Roseboro, Jr..........the doctor has found the cause and has begun the treatment. It appears that he is doing so well that he could be, according to the will of God, released on Saturday. Thank God For Jesus!!!
Another answer to prayers was for Nathaniel Byrd..........the surgery went well, no slip up by the doctors, which is always a possibility when operating on the back; especially when it comes to being close to the spine. But God did as we ask, guide the doctor’s hands that there will be no slip ups..........he even went to work the next day. Now you tell me...........how great is our God???
It is important Dear Ones, that we begin to just thank God; you have ask, now just turn and begin to thank Him for that which you have asked of Him. Now that is faith.......believing that He is able to do far above what we could ever think or ask. Amen??? Amen!!!

Day 8: Afterward
May God Bless You Dear Ones,
“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh.” Joel 2:28
Church, it is oh so important to understand, that the Holy Ghost is promised to all who believe and know the truth.
Now Church, if you do not know this, may I inform you, today, this day and this hour of the day, that God will not...... and is not........ going to put His Holy Spirit into anything that is unclean. This is why the Prophet Joel stated that when gathered.....the people are to be sanctified and then afterward, he said, the Spirit of God would be poured out upon them; not before, but afterward.
It is the same with the chastening of the Lord, (of which we all are partakers of) if now........ we endure “it”, .....even though it is grievous, afterward “it” (speaking of the chastening) yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness and it is unto each of His children, whomsoever is brought up under this type of discipline. Oh yes, the chastening of the Lord is a reminder......it will come to the mind when the devil introduces you to something that is against holiness.
So the message centered on the word “afterward” and the importance in knowing what God will do after that we have obeyed His commandments. Amen??? Amen!!!
We ask that you will continue to remember married folks, who are suffering today and mainly because they choose to marry instead of shacking up, Now “Marriage” without doubt is honorable in all. And because it is honorable, the devil is trying his hardest to make married folks feel like they should not have done it. “things were better the old way” But know thou this O man, that the goodness and forbearance and longsuffering of God is for your good. And why, because He loves you and is giving you time to repeat of the wrong and make it right through marriage, which He says is honorable. Oh the riches of His goodness.......where would this world be without “it”.
So let us adhere to the commandments of God, (stop the disobedience) that as He hast promised, so shall it be. It is what the fast is all about......... being prepared for the coming of the Holy Ghost, by allowing the power of the Word (the Gospel of Jesus Christ) to cleanse us......that we may filled with His Holy Spirit and them be able to go with Him when this life here on this earth has come to its end. Amen??? Amen!!!
Thanking you all once again for your prayers..........spoke with Billy Jr and his wife yesterday evening and through it all, he is coming along. The doctors have started his treatment and so far, thank the Lord, he has handle “it” okay. Please keep them in prayer. I say them, because it is not easy having the man or father out of the house. Satan is a prowler and loves to destroy whole houses. Amen??? Amen!!!
And also remember Deacon Okie Smith in your prayers who had a slight setback last week but through antibiotics is coming along. As he says when one will asked him how he is doing....”the devil is trying to kill me every day, but the Lord keeps me one step ahead of him”.

Church we are blessed to be coming to the end of yet another Ten Days of Fasting and Praying, and God is still ..... I say still opening up unto us an understanding of His Holy Word. As we endure through and by the Spirit of God.........we have come to the close of the day.
Tonight God gave us a thought of how that Obedience to Sound Doctrine will, I say....will lengthen your days here on this earth and over into the life beyond today. Oh yes God does without doubt have a plan. And as we are oh so blessed to be under the power and influence of the Holy Ghost, the Word of God is Sound. Amen??? Amen!!!
As I was sitting in Church tonight during the testimony service, God lead me to look at the two live plants and the one make believe plant in the rear standing all alone. It is interesting how that we sometimes slow down and God renew our strength through the wiliness to fast and pray; sit under the power of the Word; allowing the Soundness of the Gospel to clean out the old self, (which has caused us to be sluggish) that we might be meet for the Master’s use. Oh yes, God knows just what we need to make it; Sound Doctrine!!!
You see Dear Ones, the two plants have life in them and without water they weaken and if they do not get any water, sooner or later they will die. Now the other plant which is in the back, it is looking good and in its ever looking beauty, but you know something.......it is a fake. There is no life in it at all. It looks good, but inside there is no substance. It never grows, nor does it increase in size, the same with some folk...........they look good, talk good, but are without the living power of God. Interesting isn’t it??? I’ll say that it is!!!
So Dear Ones, let us have some substance of life in us, leaning and depending on Jesus Christ our Saviour who died for us that we might have a right to the tree of life. And remember that Obedience to Sound Doctrine will Lengthen Your Days. Amen??? Amen!!!

Ten Days of Fasting And Praying
From July 8, 2011 through July 17, 2011, we will be fasting and praying. We will have church services at 8:00 PM each night of the Fast. The theme of this Fast is "Ruling Your Own Spirit Well".

Day 1: Ruling Your Own Spirit Well

“And it shall come to pass afterwards, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh.” (Joel 2:28)
As we begin the season of fasting and praying, Minister Dave, who is conducting the Fast, began with the theme of ruling your own spirit well, which for some is impossible unless they are filled with the Holy Spirit of God, which does not error; because it is the Spirit of God who is Holy, Upright and Perfect in all that He does and say.
Love to you all and we invite each of you to join in with us and if you are in the Williamsburg Area, coming out and be with us as we Fast and Pray.
On the Seventh Night, we bring in our petitions, presenting them to God and waiting on that which He has promised; the out pouring of His Holy Ghost upon us as we work through the Fast to be One. Amen??? Amen!!!
We ask that you also will be mindful of those who are suffering in the flesh because of the different diseases and one in particular that we are aiming at, in this Fast, so named by man.......called........ diabetes. We would like to see God, all according to His Will, bring an end to this issue of the blood, once and for all. Now I am a firm believer in what God can do, and am asking Him to put forth His finger of love and touch everyone who has the faith to believe that they can be healed of Him, who created us all and is the God of all flesh. Amen??? Amen!!!

Day 3: The Sabbath

“If ye shall ask any thing in My name, I will do it.” (St. John 14:14)
As we enter the 3rd day of the Fast, satan is kicking and God is blessing those in whom has the faith and are trusting Him with their lives.
We are continuing to ask for your prayers for Minister Dave as he takes on the task of conducting the Fast. It is not easy, fasting and preaching. He not only has to battle the flesh, but also the spirits of those in which the Preached Word is against.
You see Dear Ones, the Preached Word, cuts deep; it is sharp and it cuts; folk don’t care to have their deeds brought to light, so instead of repeating they lash out at the Minister who is delivering the Word. Can I get a witness??? It is what has been done through the years and it is still being done today; because the same devil that was then, is now and shall be until Jesus come and take us all out of this earth. Amen??? Amen!!!
Minister Dave, spoke of how that he felt his sugar level dropping, (s“when you have this problem, you know the feeling”) and satan had told him to go up stairs and get something to eat, no body will know it, and then come on back and take your seat. But instead of doing that, he prayed to God and asked God to raise his sugar level to where it should be and then maintain it there and God did just that!!! What a Mighty God we serve??? He can do anything, but fail. Amen??? Amen!!!
Church doing this fast, our thought has been for those with diabetes; searching for the right way to present this to God in prayer, for God is a precise God and operates with precision. Now listen to this Dear Ones, Minister Dave asked God to raise his level of sugar to the right level and maintain “it”. He was precise in his asking and God response was with precision, meaning exactly as requested of Him. Now how good is God???
Sister Joy Ford, who is a faithful member, has a co-worker by the name of Robert Melbourne, please pray for he and his family who are misplaced because of a house fire; they need your sincere effectual prayer. Thank you.

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22&23)
Thanking God for yet another day come, and day past and to be in His will during this Ten Days of Fasting and Praying. It is needful for the soul!!!
Minister Dave is speaking on works and how important it is; faith without works is dead being alone. Seeing a person in need and just telling them that you are praying for them and yet fail to give them what is needful. This Dear Ones is not of God, for we are to love in deed and in truth. Amen???? Amen!!!

Church, Minister Dave has been speaking on the spirit and how we should be in dealing with our own spirit. this sermon is centered on “killing” of which many are doing; some knowingly and other unknowingly.
